In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Super Kings have climbed to second place on the points table after securing their seventh win of the season.

Punjab defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 37 runs. Chasing a massive target of 237 runs, Lucknow managed only 199 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Lucknow’s batting lineup struggled significantly, which ultimately led to their defeat. At just 27 runs, they had already lost three key top-order batters — Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for a duck, Aiden Markram made 13, and Nicholas Pooran was out for just 6.

Ayush Badoni was the top scorer for Lucknow, hitting 74 runs off 40 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Abdul Samad contributed 45 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup fell cheaply.

For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets for just 16 runs in his 4 overs.

Earlier, after losing the toss, Punjab put up a commanding performance with the bat, scoring 236 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Though opener Priyansh Arya fell early for 1, the rest of the batting order steadied the innings. Josh Inglis partnered with Prabhsimran Singh for a 48-run stand for the second wicket before being dismissed for 30.

Following that, Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer put together a 78-run partnership for the third wicket. Shreyas played a quickfire knock of 45 runs off 25 balls before being dismissed. Prabhsimran delivered a standout performance, scoring a brilliant 91 off 48 balls, hitting 6 fours and 7 sixes. Shashank Singh remained unbeaten on 33 runs at the crease.

In the bowling department, Akash Singh and Digvyesh Rathi took 2 wickets each, while Prince Yadav claimed 1 wicket.

With this victory, Punjab now has 15 points from 11 matches, securing their seventh win and climbing to second place on the points table. They are just 1 point behind table-toppers RCB.

For Lucknow, this was their sixth loss in 11 games, and they currently have 10 points.
