Match abandoned due to rain – Kolkata fails to qualify for the IPL playoffs.
Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders eliminated from ongoing IPL season
Kolkata Knight Riders have been knocked out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season after their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday was abandoned due to rain.
The match was called off without even the toss taking place, and both teams were awarded one point each. With only 12 points from 13 matches, Kolkata failed to secure a spot in the playoffs.
On the other hand, RCB climbed to the top of the table with 17 points from 12 matches and are now on the verge of qualifying for the playoffs.
Fans of former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli were left disappointed. Kohli had recently announced his retirement from Test cricket. In his honor, many fans wore white jerseys with his iconic number 18 as they arrived to watch the RCB vs Kolkata match.
