Gujarat Titans climb to second spot on the IPL points table with a win over Sunrisers Hyderabad
Gujarat Titans secured a victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs in today’s IPL match, moving up to the second position on the points table.
Chasing a massive target of 225 runs, Hyderabad could only manage 186 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century. However, other batters failed to play significant innings. Opener Abhishek contributed a top score of 74 runs from 41 balls, hitting 6 sixes and 4 fours.
The other opener, Travis Head, scored 20 runs, Heinrich Klaasen added 23, Nitish Kumar Reddy made 21, Pat Cummins chipped in with 19, and Ishan Kishan scored 13.
In Gujarat’s bowling attack, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna took 2 wickets each, while Ishant Sharma and Gerald Coetzee claimed one wicket apiece.
Earlier at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Hyderabad won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, Gujarat posted a strong total of 224 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
Strong Opening Partnership Leads Gujarat to Dominant Total
Openers Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill gave Gujarat a solid start with an 87-run stand for the first wicket. Gujarat scored 82 runs in the powerplay. Sudharsan was dismissed for 48 off just 23 balls, hitting 9 fours.
After his dismissal, Shubman Gill was joined by Jos Buttler, and the duo added another 62 runs for the second wicket. Gill played a brilliant knock of 76 runs off 38 balls, which included 10 fours and 2 sixes before getting run out.
Jos Buttler also completed his half-century, scoring 64 runs off 37 balls. Washington Sundar contributed 21 runs down the order.
In bowling, Jaydev Unadkat impressed with 3 wickets in the final over. Pat Cummins and Zeeshan Ansari took one wicket each.
With this win, Gujarat now sits in second place on the points table with 14 points. Hyderabad, on the other hand, is in ninth place with just 6 points.
