"RCB defeated by Delhi"
KL Rahul's explosive batting led Delhi to a 6-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 13 balls remaining today.
Chasing a target of 164 runs, Delhi completed the task in 17.5 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Delhi had a shaky start. The top three batters—Faf du Plessis (2 runs), Jake Fraser, and Abhishek Porel (both 7 runs)—were all dismissed early. At one point, Delhi had only scored 30 runs with three wickets down. Captain Axar Patel was also dismissed for just 15 runs shortly after.
However, KL Rahul held steady at the crease, scoring a half-century off 37 balls. His brilliant batting formed the foundation for Delhi’s victory. Rahul, along with Tristan Stubbs, shared an unbeaten partnership of 111 runs for the fifth wicket. KL Rahul played an unbeaten knock of 93 runs off 53 balls, hitting 7 fours and 6 sixes, which was crucial in guiding Delhi to victory. Tristan Stubbs remained not out on 38 runs.
In the bowling department, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets.
Earlier, Delhi won the toss and chose to field. Batting first, RCB managed to score 163 runs in 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. RCB struggled with the bat.
No player was able to settle at the crease for RCB. Opener Phil Salt scored 37 runs, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes off 17 balls. After him, eighth batter Tim David remained unbeaten on 37 runs.
Captain Rajat Patidar contributed 25 runs, Virat Kohli made 22 runs, and Krunal Pandya added 18 runs. The rest of the players failed to reach double digits. In the bowling department, Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets each.
Delhi has achieved a perfect record in 4 matches. With 4 wins, Delhi has earned 8 points, tying with Gujarat at the top of the table. However, Delhi has played 1 game less than Gujarat.
This was RCB's second loss in their fifth match. With 6 points, RCB is in third place.
