Rajasthan defeated Punjab.


Rajasthan Royals secured their second victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL), defeating Punjab Kings by 50 runs today.

Punjab, chasing a target of 206 runs, was restricted to 155 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Punjab had a dreadful start, losing 3 wickets for just 26 runs. Opener Priyans Arya was dismissed on the very first ball of the innings by Jofra Archer. Captain Shreyas Iyer returned to the pavilion after scoring just 10 runs. Shortly after, Marcus Stoinis, who had made only 1 run, was caught and bowled by Sandeep Sharma.

Prabhsimran Singh was the fourth wicket to fall, getting out for 17 runs. At that point, Punjab’s total was just 43. After that, Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell built an 88-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Maxwell was dismissed for 30 runs.

Nehal Wadhera played a solid half-century innings, scoring 62 runs off 41 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. After his dismissal, Punjab came under further pressure, and the remaining batters couldn’t hold on.

With the ball, Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets. Maheesh Theekshana and Sandeep Sharma took 2 wickets each.

Earlier, Punjab had won the toss and opted to field first. Batting first, Rajasthan posted a total of 205 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs.

This was the first time any team crossed the 200-run mark at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in the IPL.

Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and captain Sanju Samson put on an 89-run partnership for the first wicket. Rajasthan scored 53 runs in the powerplay. Punjab took their first wicket in the 10th over, on the second ball. Lockie Ferguson dismissed Sanju Samson, who had scored 38 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a half-century off 40 balls, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. It was his first half-century of the season. He was eventually dismissed for 67 runs off 45 balls, which included 3 fours and 5 sixes, falling to Lockie Ferguson as well.

After that, Nitish Rana was dismissed for 12 runs and Shimron Hetmyer for 20.

At number three, batter Riyan Parag played an explosive innings. He remained unbeaten on 43 runs off just 25 balls, smashing 3 fours and 3 sixes. Dhruv Jurel also remained not out, scoring 13 runs off just 5 balls, including 1 four and 1 six.

With the ball, Lockie Ferguson bowled 4 overs, conceding 37 runs and taking 2 wickets. Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh picked up a wicket each.

After losing their first two matches, Rajasthan has now secured back-to-back wins. With 4 points from 4 matches, they have climbed to seventh place in the table.

Punjab, on the other hand, failed to secure their third consecutive win and remain on 4 points from 3 matches.
