Punjab's consecutive second victory.
In Tuesday's match, Punjab Kings secured their second consecutive victory by defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 8 wickets. Chasing a target of 172 runs set by Lucknow, Punjab reached the total in 16.2 overs, losing just 2 wickets.
Opener Prabhsimran Singh played a key role in Punjab's win, scoring a brilliant 69 runs off 34 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. He shared an 84-run partnership for the second wicket with captain Shreyas Iyer. Iyer remained unbeaten on 52 runs off 30 balls, hitting 3 fours and 4 sixes.
For the third wicket, Iyer and Nehal Wadhera put together a match-winning 67-run stand. Nehal remained not out on 43 runs off 25 balls, smashing 3 fours and 4 sixes. Opener Priyansh Arya was dismissed for 8 runs. Digvesh Rathi claimed both wickets for Lucknow.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, Lucknow Super Giants posted a total of 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
For Lucknow, Nicholas Pooran was the top scorer with 44 runs off 30 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. Ayush Badoni contributed 41 runs off 33 balls, including 1 four and 3 sixes.
Abdul Samad played a quick cameo, scoring 27 runs off 12 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Aiden Markram added 28 runs off 18 balls, while David Miller managed 19 runs off 18 balls. Captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just 2 runs.
For Punjab, Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3 wickets. Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal picked up one wicket each.
With this second consecutive victory, Punjab Kings have climbed to second place in the points table with 4 points. They had won their first match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad.
On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants suffered their second defeat in three matches. With 2 points from 3 games, they are currently in sixth place. Lucknow lost their opening match against Delhi Capitals but bounced back to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second game.
