Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings in today's match.

Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings by 18 runs in today's Indian Premier League (IPL) match.

Chasing a target of 220 runs, Chennai Super Kings managed to score 201 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Despite a strong start from Ravindra and Devon Conway, Chennai's momentum faltered in the middle overs, leading to their defeat.

Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni tried to stabilize the innings, but their efforts weren’t enough. Ravindra and Conway put together a 61-run partnership for the first wicket. Ravindra scored 36 runs, while Conway made a half-century. Dube contributed 42 runs, and Dhoni added 27 runs.

In bowling, Punjab’s Lockie Ferguson took 2 wickets, while Yash Thakur and Glenn Maxwell claimed 1 wicket each.

Earlier, at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Punjab Kings won the toss and chose to bat first. Thanks to a brilliant century by Priyans Arya, Punjab posted a total of 219 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs.

Opener Priyans Arya played a record-breaking knock, remaining solid at the crease while his fellow batsmen struggled to support him. At the end of the first powerplay, Punjab had scored 75 runs but had already lost 3 wickets.

From the second to the sixth position, five other batsmen failed to score double figures. By the time the score reached 83 runs, 5 wickets had fallen. Priyans, however, stayed strong and played an explosive inning.

Priyans reached his century off just 39 balls, hitting 7 fours and 9 sixes. He became the fastest Indian player to score a century in the IPL.

The record for the fastest century was previously held by Yusuf Pathan, who scored a century in 37 balls in 2010.

Priyans is the second player this season to score a century, following Ishan Kishan of Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Priyans played a brilliant knock of 103 runs off 42 balls before being dismissed by Noor Ahmad. After his dismissal, Sashank Singh and Marco Jansen added an unbeaten 65-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Sashank scored a half-century, remaining not out on 52 runs off 36 balls, while Marco made an unbeaten 34 runs. In bowling, Chennai’s Khalid Ahmed and Ravichandran Ashwin took 2 wickets each.

With 6 points from 4 games, Punjab is in 4th place. Chennai, with only 2 points from 5 games, is in 9th place.

In the first match of the day, Lucknow Super Giants defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 4 runs. With 6 points from 5 games, Lucknow is in 5th place, while Kolkata, with 4 points, is in 6th place.
