Punjab clinches victory in a thrilling match.

In a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) match, Punjab Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by 16 runs in a low-scoring game.

In IPL history, this is the lowest total ever successfully defended by a team batting first. Chasing a modest target of just 112 runs, Kolkata Knight Riders were bowled out for 95 in just 15.1 overs.

Kolkata missed a golden opportunity to win the game. Their openers, Sunil Narine and Quinton de Kock, were dismissed cheaply for just 2 runs. By the time both openers were back in the pavilion, Kolkata had only managed 7 runs on the board.

Then, Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi put up a 55-run partnership for the third wicket. Rahane was dismissed for 17 runs, while Angkrish scored a solid 37 off 28 balls before getting out.

Despite chasing a relatively easy target, Kolkata couldn't deliver with the bat. Venkatesh Iyer fell for 7, Rinku Singh for 2, Ramandeep Singh was out without scoring, and Harshit Rana managed only 3 runs.

At one point, Kolkata had lost 8 wickets for just 79 runs. Later, Andre Russell scored 17 but couldn’t carry his team through, while Vaibhav Arora was dismissed for a duck. The team collapsed for 95 runs.

In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal was brilliant, picking up 4 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. Marco Jansen also contributed significantly with 3 wickets.

Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, Punjab Kings were bowled out for just 111 runs in 15.3 overs. The batting lineup struggled and failed to last the full 20 overs.

Prabhsimran Singh was the top scorer with 30 runs, followed by Priyansh Arya with 22, Shashank Singh with 18, and Nehal Wadhera with 10. No other batsmen managed to reach double figures.

In Kolkata’s bowling attack, Harshit Rana stood out, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine also impressed, picking up 2 wickets each.

This was Punjab’s fourth win of the season, placing them in fourth position on the points table with 8 points. On the other hand, Kolkata suffered their fourth loss in seven matches and currently have 6 points.
