Lucknow's first victory.


Lucknow Super Giants have secured their first victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

Lucknow defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets. Chasing a target of 191 runs, Lucknow completed the chase in 16.1 overs, losing 4 wickets.

Nicholas Pooran played a crucial role in Lucknow's victory, scoring a match-winning 70 runs off 26 balls, including 6 sixes and 6 fours. He shared a century partnership of 116 runs for the second wicket with Mitchell Marsh. Marsh contributed 52 runs off 31 balls, hitting 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 15 runs off 15 balls, while Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 22 runs off 8 balls, hitting 2 fours and 2 sixes. Ayush Badoni was out for 6 runs, and David Miller remained not out on 13 runs.

For Hyderabad, captain Pat Cummins took 2 wickets, while Mohammad Shami, Harshal Patel, and Adam Zampa claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first after losing the toss at their home ground, Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad posted a total of 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Opener Travis Head was the top scorer for Hyderabad with 47 runs off 28 balls, hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes. Aniket Verma smashed 36 runs off just 13 balls, including 5 sixes.

Nitish Kumar Reddy scored 32 runs off 28 balls, Heinrich Klaasen contributed 26 off 17 balls, while Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 6 runs.

Ishan Kishan, who had scored a century against Rajasthan Royals in the first match, was dismissed on the very first ball. Captain Pat Cummins played a quick cameo, scoring 18 runs off 4 balls with the help of 3 sixes before getting out.

For Lucknow, Shardul Thakur took 4 wickets, while Avesh Khan, Digvijay Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi, and Prince Yadav claimed one wicket each.

Lucknow had lost their first match against Delhi Capitals, while Hyderabad had won their opening game against Rajasthan Royals.
