Kolkata registered their first win in the IPL 2025 season.
Kolkata Knight Riders secured their first win in the second match by defeating Rajasthan by 8 wickets on Wednesday. Kolkata chased down the target of 152 runs in 17.3 overs, losing just 2 wickets.
The highlight of Kolkata's victory was opener Quinton de Kock, who played an excellent half-century knock. De Kock remained unbeaten, scoring 97 runs off 61 balls, hitting 8 fours and 6 sixes.
Angkrish Raghvanshi remained not out at 22 off 17 balls. Captain Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 18 runs off 15 balls, hitting 1 four and 1 six. Opener Moeen Ali was dismissed for just 5 runs.
For Rajasthan, Wanindu Hasaranga was the only bowler to take a wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat, Rajasthan posted 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
For Rajasthan, Dhruv Jurel was the top scorer with 33 runs. He faced 28 balls and hit 5 boundaries. Opener Sanju Samson scored 13 runs off 11 balls, while Nitish Rana made 8 runs off 9 balls.
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 29 runs off 24 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Riyan Parag contributed 25 runs off 15 balls with 3 sixes before being dismissed. Jofra Archer managed 17 runs off 7 balls, hitting 2 sixes, before getting out.
For Kolkata, Harshit Rana, Vaibhav Arora, Moeen Ali, and Varun Chakravarthy each took 2 wickets, while Spencer Johnson claimed 1 wicket.
After losing to Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first match, Kolkata moved up to the 6th spot with 2 points from 2 games.
On the other hand, Rajasthan suffered their second consecutive defeat and remains at the bottom of the points table. They had also lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match.
