Delhi lost to Gujarat.
With the help of Jos Buttler’s half-century, Gujarat Titans defeated Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets in today’s Indian Premier League (IPL) match.
Chasing a target of 204 runs, Gujarat completed the run chase in 19.2 overs, losing just 3 wickets. Buttler laid the foundation for victory with a 119-run partnership for the third wicket alongside Sherfane Rutherford.
Buttler remained unbeaten on 97 runs off 54 balls, smashing 11 fours and 4 sixes. Rutherford scored 43 runs from 34 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 1 four.
Rahul Tewatia contributed an unbeaten 11 runs from 3 balls with one six and one four. Earlier, Buttler had also shared a 60-run stand for the second wicket with opener Sai Sudharsan.
Sudharsan scored 37 runs off 21 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. The other opener and captain, Shubman Gill, was dismissed for just 7 runs. Delhi's Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
Earlier in the match, Gujarat won the toss and chose to field first at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Delhi scored 203 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Opener Abishek Porel was dismissed after scoring 18 runs. At 28 runs, KL Rahul was trapped LBW by Prasidh Krishna. After that, Karun Nair was dismissed for 31 runs.
Delhi were at 93 for 3 at one point. Then, captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs added a 53-run partnership.
Tristan was out for 31, and Axar Patel scored 39 before being dismissed. Batting at number six, Ashutosh Sharma contributed 37 runs from 19 balls, including 2 fours and 3 sixes.
Krishna delivered a notable bowling performance, conceding 41 runs and taking 4 wickets in his 4-over spell. Mohammed Siraj, Arshad Khan, Sai Kishore, and Ishant Sharma each claimed one wicket.
With their fifth win in the seventh match, Gujarat has reclaimed the top spot on the table with 10 points. Delhi and Punjab Kings also have 10 points each from the same number of matches, occupying the second and third positions respectively.
