A brilliant victory for Hyderabad.
Chasing a target of 246 runs, Hyderabad completed the win with 9 balls to spare, losing just 2 wickets—thanks to a sensational century by Abhishek Sharma.
Abhishek and Travis Head laid the foundation for victory with a 171-run partnership for the first wicket.
Abhishek scored his maiden IPL century off just 40 balls, smashing 11 fours and 6 sixes.
He went on to score a brilliant 141 runs off 55 deliveries, including 14 boundaries and 10 sixes, before getting dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.
Head contributed 66 runs off just 37 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 sixes. Heinrich Klaasen remained unbeaten on 21, while Ishan Kishan stayed not out on 9.
Earlier, Punjab won the toss and opted to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. They posted a massive total of 245 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their 20 overs.
Captain Shreyas Iyer led from the front with a brilliant knock, scoring a team-high 82 runs off 36 balls, including 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Prabhsimran Singh added 42 runs, Priyansh Arya contributed 36, and Nehal Wadhera scored 27. Marcus Stoinis played a quickfire unbeaten cameo, smashing 34 runs off just 11 balls with 4 sixes and a four.
In bowling, Harshal Patel impressed with figures of 4 wickets for 42 runs in his 4 overs. Ishan Malinga also chipped in with 2 wickets.
After their first win, Hyderabad had suffered four consecutive losses. With this victory, they now have 4 points from 6 matches and have climbed to the 8th position on the table. Punjab, with 6 points from 5 matches, currently sits in 6th place.
